Do you want to drive this idea forward, get professional feedback or win a little financial start-up aid? Then apply here for the 4th cross-university ideas competition! Applications are now open and the deadline for submitting your idea is 24.01.2024. The project team will select the ten most promising ideas from the three universities Dortmund University of Applied Sciences and Arts, Bochum University of Applied Sciences and the Westphalian University of Applied Sciences and Arts. These will be pitched to a panel of experts at the final event on 08.02.2024. The jury will then decide on places 1-3. The award ceremony will take place directly after the announcement of the winners. The prizes are: 1st place consulting voucher worth approx. 1,000 euros 2nd place consulting voucher worth approx. 750 euros 3rd place consulting voucher worth approx. 500 euros In a joint discussion, the winners determine which start-up-specific consulting services the vouchers will be used for. In addition to the consulting vouchers for the winners, the participants in the final round (1-10) will receive professional jury feedback and access to the start-up network of the three universities.

Project partners wanted! We are looking for interested participants for the IGF project BioYarnCoat. Within the project, research is conducted on an innovative thermoplastic coating process for yarn-based semi-finished products. The process is applicable for both natural and recycled carbon fiber yarns.

With Tex Started, Gesamtverband textil+mode offers innovative start-ups in the textile and fashion industry an industry-specific network to promote cooperation and support innovative start-ups. For the following project, a start-up is looking for a suitable partner (SME): "We can use our software to intuitively teach specialized knowledge to an AI. This allows the computer to take over complex, time-consuming assessments. Applications include quality control of surfaces of all kinds, visual quality control (defect detection such as tears, running stitches, knitting faults, sewing faults, discolorations), which can be intuitively trained with very few examples itself. The producer himself is enabled to teach his personal idea of quality to the AI by color-coding few example defects."

We are a research institute from Aachen and are looking for suitable partners for our next project in the field of textile production and plants of durable and wear resistant machine elements for textile production. As a solution approach we are pursuing the coating of thread guiding elements with economical diamond v-coatings. Here, the focus is on the texturing of spun-dyed yarns and the processing of glass and carbon fibers. Only 20% of the world's wastewater is treated before being discharged into the environment. Pollution exacerbates water scarcity, which in turn can lead to a 6% reduction in GDP. Therefore, in the NanoFil project, novel nanofibre filters are being developed to remove ultra-fine contaminants from water with low energy input. That sounds interesting? We are still looking for member companies for the project accompanying committee.
