The melt spinning facilities at the ITA enable the production of special optical fibers that obtain their sensitivity, for example, through doping, a new material or a post-processing step. I look forward to working with you on the design, prototype production and/or processing and characterization of polymer-based optical fibres.

The ITA is researching the production and processing of polymer optical fibers for textile-integrated lighting, e.g. for automotive interiors or smart textiles. Previous optical fibers from data transmission are overengineered from an optical point of view and their high price hinders the mass suitability of previous fiber optic lighting products.
