Companies and application providers have to connect each data source in an individual effort: equipment, machines, ERP, applications for warehousing, quality, AI driven planning, Machine Learning, robotics and many more. But that only connects a specific application to a specific source, creating data silos. As useful as this information is for an individual process within the value chain, if data is not shared, the added value is limited, example: A predictive maintenance applications helps to forecast when a machine needs to be maintained.
